I’m a Software Engineer at Rubrik where I build complex distributed systems for data protection and storage using C++, Go, and Python. For the last 3 years, I’ve been one of the tech leads for Atlas, Rubrik’s distributed filesystem. Atlas is deployed on thousands of clusters worldwide, both on-premises and in the cloud, with total data under management at exabyte scale.

Previously, I was a founding engineer and tech lead at Mason (formerly Kubric) from 2017 to 2021, where I built products for scalable content creation. I led development of our ML/AI features such as salient object detection, automatic cropping, image resizing, and background removal. I also built our image/video rendering pipelines and our API platform. Read more about our ML features in this archived blog post from 2020.

Earlier in my career (2015 - 2017), I worked as a freelance Android Engineer, building mobile apps for various early-stage companies.

Open Source Work

• Search for Reddit: Android app to check for reposts/find past Reddit threads and search Reddit for anything. Reached 10k+ organic installs. Find the code here.
• Google Cloud Datastore ORM - Built at Mason to help us migrate away from Google App Engine.
• Book price comparison engine - JustCompare: A book price comparison engine for Indian retail sites built as an undergrad project. Scraped and indexed data from multiple retailers using Python and PostgreSQL full-text search.

Talks and Presentations

• Video as Code - Presented a lightning talk at Demuxed, San Francisco, 2019 about how we created a video markup language at Mason.
• Jack, Jill and Java 8 - Presented a talk on the new Jack & Jill toolchain for Android at Droidcon, Bangalore 2016.
• Fall detector with Raspberry Pi - Built a computer vision system using Raspberry Pi and OpenCV to detect falling objects. Presented at PyCon 2014.
